Ramadan 2022: arrangements for the iftar table
The iftar table is a different design problem. Low, generous, scented but not overpowering, in a vessel that won't tip when the dishes are passed. Three of our most-ordered Ramadan arrangements this year, and how we built them.
What an iftar arrangement should be
It sits in the middle of a busy table. People reach across it. Glasses of water and bowls of harees and platters of dates pass over it. So it has to be:
- Low — under 25cm, ideally under 20cm
- Generous and round — visible from every chair
- Subtly scented — jasmine yes, lily no
- Stable in a wide-base vessel — not the tall narrow vase that gets knocked over
Three we made this year
The Garden Iftar — 12 stems of white garden roses + jasmine + soft pink ranunculus, in a 20cm shallow ceramic bowl. AED 280. Most popular.
The Date-Plate Centerpiece — small mounded arrangement of soft cream and gold tones, designed to sit beside the dates plate not compete with it. AED 180.
The Long Iftar Runner — for tables seating 14+, a 90cm runner of mixed greens with three small clusters of flowers along its length. Custom AED 600–900.
